Taylor is not
your typical
musician. Born
just south of
"Music City",
in Tennessee, you'd think he'd be like most every other musician from the area. But he's not. He doesn't play country music, not that he's got anything against it, he was born to play jazz and blues. At an early age (about 4) his father heard Taylor pick out the notes to "I heard It Through The Grapevine" on a piano, and suspected Taylor might have a special musical gift. A gift that needed to be cultivated. In the eighth grade Taylor took up the saxophone in the middle school band. And that was the beginning of Taylor Cheatwood the musician that we know today. It wasn't long before Taylor was playing in local bands. When he was 16 he and has father took a trip to Memphis where Taylor played with several top groups on Beale Street. He has played with some of the best musicians in the area, including the Scott Holt Blues Band in gigs at the famous Third and Lindsley Club in Nashville. He has jammed with top Muscle Shoals musicians included Rolling Stones and Lyle Lovett Saxophonist Harvey Thompson. Today Taylor has added keyboards, harmonica, guitar and bass guitar to his arsenal of instruments. He is a member of the "Flashbacks" where he plays keyboards and saxophone all over the south; and when available plays in the horn section of the Alabama Blues Brothers. His musical influences include Boney James, Steve Winwood, Peter Gabriel, Stevie Wonder and Sting. He is a fine addition to the Flashback sound vibe. |
